The Barber Shop

I have been getting a lot of grief over the length of Max's hair. He has had his first haircut already, and he looked so old after it I decided to let his hair grow. He has the cutest curls! However, after more than one person commenting on what a pretty girl I had (much to Daddy's dismay) I decided maybe it was time to get a little trim. Mason had an appointment at the barber shop today (he started requesting that we go to the barber shop--who knows where he came up with that!) and while we were there, I asked them to trim up Max's hair. Here's what I got!

This was this morning when Max decided to spike his hair using the banana left on his hands after breakfast.

This was at lunch, after the TRIM! It isn't much of a trim--more like a scalping!--but at least he still has more hair than Daddy!

The barber said he was going to leave some of his curls, but I sure don't see them. The barber just kept saying that Max was getting a mullet removal. I kept trying to convince him that mullets weren't all that bad and that Jacob had a really pretty one once upon a time but I'm not sure he was buying it =)

Fun in Kansas

Last week the boys and I spent some time in Kansas. Daddy had to drive back and go to work, but the boys and I got to spend the entire week at home! They had so much fun playing with their cousins and swimming. We can't wait to come back in July!Kayden loves to mother Max and make sure he is doing okay. It's fun to have a real doll to play with!

We all spent a lot of time at Grandma and Pa's pool. Mason was a bit hesitant at first, but as you can see, quickly threw his inhibitions aside and dove right in. Great photography, Uncle Bobby!

On Friday, Gigi (Grandma Gayla) had an educational exhibit at Deanna Rose Farmstead for work. To show our support, Jodi and I took all five kids up for the day. Luckily for us, Pa (Grandpa Larry) decided to ride along, too!

The milk barn was a big hit. All the kids got to milk a cow--they were all pretty good at it! Jayden was the only one who thought my idea of a picture on the saddle was a good idea.
Mason and Marla decided to be adventurous and climbed up on an old steam tractor. I think Marla was really just trying to keep Mason from ending up with stitches!
Once again, all that fun just wore Maxy out!

On our last night at home, Mammy and Gramps came over for dinner. The kids decided that since it was too wet to really go and ride, they'd make Uncle Jakie a horse.

Max thought that a better pasttime was convincing his grandpas to feed him their dessert. It turns out that chocolate pudding is one of Max's favorites! I'm not sure who's having more fun, Max or the grandpas.

Our friends Laura and Mike have a pool and we went over last weekend. Max was very content hanging out in the baby float, but Mason was everywhere! Audrey (who Mason lists as one of his cousins!) and Mason had a lot of fun floating and jumping around.

Welcome to our blog! I'm going to try to keep everyone updated on our family and what's going on with the boys. It's hard being away from home and the boys are growing so fast! Hopefully this will help keep everyone in the loop.

Summer is Here!

I'm finally finished with school for the year and ready to spend some time with the boys! It's already hot so we're spending a lot of time inside doing projects.

Mason loves to do any sort of artwork, so he has been doing a lot of painting and Play-doh.

Max, of course, wants to do EVERYTHING his big brother does and took a turn with the crayons himself. It worked for a little while, but he ended up with blue teeth.
