Play Ball!

Baseball season is officially here!  Although we have been practicing for nearly a month, the official start to the boys' baseball season was yesterday.  Sachse has a big parade and opening day ceremony to start the season.  When I heard about it, I thought it was a bit silly, but after having participated in it, I think it was great!

Each team, all the way from Max's Blastball to the big kids baseball, had a float in the parade.  Some were on trailers, some in the bed of the truck, and one even in a boat!  All the kids were in their uniforms and a lot of the town came out to line the streets and watch the kids.  Max and Mason had a ball waving to all the people and throwing candy.

At the opening ceremony, the Mayor of Sachse spoke, a Representative for our area spoke, and the baseball commissioner spoke.  It was so wonderful to see so many people turn out and give their time for our kids.  Jacob and I often miss living in a small town and yesterday, we got some of that feeling back. 

We were so blessed to have Mammy and Gramps down for the weekend.  They got to experience the parade and opening ceremony with us, which the boys absolutely loved!  Max couldn't get enough of his "Grampsy" = )

Mammy and I were talking about the whole event and she put in into perspective for me.  She said, "Anytime adults come together to do something for kids, to make kids feel special, it's time well spent."  She's absolutely right and I'm so glad Jacob and I live in a town where they are willing to make our kids feel special.

Spring Break

I know I haven't updated in awhile, but not much has been going on, until last week.  We had a wonderful Spring Break and it makes me wish Summer would hurry up and get here!  I love spending my days with the boys and hanging out.

The first part of our Spring Break, Gigi, Aunt Jodi, Marla, & Jayden came down to spend some time with us.  We had a great time!  In fact, we had so much fun that I forgot to take out my camera even once!  So although we have no pictures from that part of our break, it was spent playing, shopping (Yea for the Coach Outlet, or Gigi's store as Max refers to it), playing, & more shopping.  We so love when family comes to visit!

The second part of our break was spent at one of Mason's favorite places in the world--the beach!  Mom and Dad are in Port Aransas for the winter so the boys and I decided to drive down to see them.  Jacob had to work and had class, so it was a Mom and Boys adventure!

Those of you who have read my blog before know what big fans we are of the Junior Ranger program and how much Mason loves it.  Well, Padre Island is a national seashore and has a program for kids.  Needless to say, we took the 30 mile trek to get another badge for the banner!

Both the boys thought this HUGE shark was pretty cool.  Max wanted Pa to carry him and, of course, Mason wanted to be in the teeth = )

Our last day there was very yucky.  It was cold and rainy and windy.  Mason still wanted to go to the beach, so we went for just a little while.  He loved playing on the dunes.

The sea was really rough and washed up this jellyfish.  At first we thought it had lost all of its tentacles, but according to the Junior Ranger book, it's actually a cabbage head jellyfish.  Mason thought it was pretty cool!

Since the beach was out, Mom, Mason, & I did a little sightseeing while Pa & Max stayed at the camper and napped.  After jumping on this surfboard, Mason is sure he's ready to learn how to surf.

Spring Break was great!  We had so much fun with Gigi and the gang and Port A was wonderful!  Mason and Max have opening day of their baseball season (Sachse has a parade and an official opening day ceremony) this Saturday and then Mason's first game is the 29th.  I'm sure there will be great pictures and stories from that!  Stay tuned...
